Luliang County, Qujing City, marked a significant advancement in regional energy infrastructure this week with the successful grid connection of Phase One of a major shared energy storage facility. Operational as of April 29, 2025, this initial 200MW/400MWh phase represents the first step in a landmark 500MW/1000MWh project.
Developed through a partnership between battery technology leader EVE Energy and state-owned power investment firm SPIC Yunnan International, the project is managed locally by SPIC subsidiary Luliang Dianneng Power Co., Ltd.
The commissioning process showcased remarkable efficiency. EVE Energy delivered and installed 40 specialized 5MW/10MWh energy storage units. Notably, the entire installation and commissioning process was completed within just one week of the equipment arriving on-site.
As Qujing's inaugural shared energy storage station, the facility is poised to significantly enhance the region's power management. Key functions include:
Optimizing electricity allocation through peak-valley arbitrage.
Strengthening overall grid stability and reliability.
Addressing critical challenges in renewable energy consumption.
The successful launch of Phase One elevates the collaborative efforts between EVE Energy and SPIC Yunnan International, demonstrating a potent model for deploying large-scale energy storage solutions.
Looking forward, EVE Energy emphasizes its commitment to driving low-carbon energy transitions through continued innovation in storage technology and efficient project delivery. This project aligns directly with broader objectives to support Qujing's sustainable development and contribute to China's national "dual-carbon" goals. The operational storage station is designed for a 20-year lifespan, ensuring long-term benefits for the regional grid.
