Global power battery ranking Chinese enterprises occupy absolute advantage

 

Among the top ten global power battery companies in 2022, Korean battery manufacturers occupy three positions, with a combined sales and shipment market share of 22.9% and 26.5%, respectively.

 

In 2022, the global sales volume of power batteries was 690 GWh, and the market size of battery packs reached $125.5 billion. Among them, the top ten global power battery companies account for 71% and 93% of global sales and shipments, respectively.

 

In terms of sales, China's CATL market share is 27.5%, ranking first. South Korea's LG New Energy ranks second with 12.3%, while Samsung SDI (6%) and SK On (4.6%) are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

 

In terms of shipment volume, CATL also ranks first with a market share of 39.1%. LG New Energy ranked second with 14.9%, SK On (6.4%) and Samsung SDI (5.2%) ranked fifth and sixth respectively, reversing their rankings.

 

According to data, among the top ten global power battery companies, except for three Korean companies and Panasonic, Chinese companies occupy six positions. The market share gap between the top ten enterprises has further widened.

 

Based on the shipment volume, the total market share of the top three enterprises exceeds 66%, further enhancing their market influence. On the contrary, the market share ranking fourth to sixth is only 5-7%.

Other new car manufacturers, such as NIO, Xiaopeng, and Ideal, are far from selling 500000 vehicles, and the sales of rising stars Weima and Nezha are also far behind 500000 vehicles.

 

So some car companies entering the battery market are simply forced into helplessness, while competitors have already entered the power battery market, and whether they are willing or not, they cannot fall behind. Many car companies are simply "driven to the market".

 

However, from a global perspective, although countries and regions such as Europe, America, Japan, and South Korea have accelerated the cultivation of local industrial chains, the advantages of China's power battery products are still relatively obvious.

 

The Chinese power battery industry has a complete industrial chain, and compared to international manufacturers, Chinese power battery companies have better cost control capabilities.
