Sungrow Powers Finland's Northernmost Solar Plant Near Arctic Circle
Simo, Finland – June 18, 2025 – Sungrow has supplied 180 SG350HX inverters for a 70MW solar plant in Simo, Lapland – now Finland's largest PV installation and among the world's northernmost at just 100km below the Arctic Circle. Developed by Solarigo Systems Oy with PVO International, the 95-hectare project features 120,000 panels integrated with existing wind turbines to form a hybrid power plant supporting Finland's carbon neutrality goals.
The arctic-grade inverters feature IP66/C5 corrosion resistance, smart air-cooling, and sub-zero operation capabilities. This marks Sungrow's second Simo project following a 60MWh battery installation earlier in 2025.
Solarigo Project Manager Jere Graf highlighted the SG350HX's reliability in extreme conditions, while Sungrow Finland's Henry Särkisilta noted its role in expanding solar frontiers. The inverter's 99% efficiency, 16 MPPTs, and weak-grid compatibility ensure optimal performance in Lapland's harsh environment, demonstrating large-scale PV viability in Arctic regions.
