CALB has become the first Chinese battery manufacturer to deliver an ABS-certified marine battery system. Its 1.2 MWh high-safety system, developed for Saudi Aramco, was successfully launched for sea trials aboard the Karan8 – Saudi Aramco's first hybrid offshore support vessel (OSV).
Scheduled for deployment in the Persian Gulf in Q2 2025, the Karan8 will use CALB's advanced battery technology to provide low-carbon port support. The vessel's hybrid-electric system is projected to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 30%. This milestone follows CALB becoming China's first DNV-certified proprietary battery system provider.
