Battery manufacturer CORNEX New Energy officially commissioned Phase II of its Yichang lithium battery industrial park on August 9, bringing an additional 80GWh of total designed annual capacity online. The expansion marks a significant step in scaling up the company’s manufacturing capacity to meet rising global demand for energy storage and electric vehicle power solutions.
The updated Yichang facility includes a single plant capable of delivering over 30GWh annually toward the project's overall 80GWh scale. Designed to support the R&D and large-scale manufacturing of energy storage cells, EV batteries, and battery modules, the industrial park utilizes upgraded, flexible manufacturing lines. These automated systems are engineered to produce a broad spectrum of large-format cells ranging from 500Ah to 1000Ah for various commercial and industrial applications.
In tandem with the park’s opening, CORNEX initiated mass production of its proprietary 588Ah large-capacity energy storage cell. Developed for next-generation utility-scale power stations and commercial energy storage systems, the high-density cell is engineered to deliver improved safety metrics and an extended cycle life, aiming to lower capital and operational costs for project developers.
The latest capacity addition reinforces CORNEX’s position within the global battery supply chain. By expanding its manufacturing footprint and introducing high-capacity cell formats, the company seeks to accelerate commercial deployment in energy storage markets while supporting broader industry decarbonization goals.
