6.25MWh BESS Featuring HiTHIUM's High-Capacity ∞Cell Battery

CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. has successfully launched a 6.25MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The system integrates HiTHIUM’s independently developed ∞Cell 587Ah high-capacity energy storage battery and is scheduled for deployment in high-renewable-penetration regions of Northwest China. With a total planned capacity surpassing GWh scale, the project aims to significantly improve local renewable energy utilization.

In recent years, large-scale power systems have seen growing demand for energy storage solutions with large capacity, long cycle life, and enhanced safety. Responding to this trend, HiTHIUM introduced the ∞Cell 587Ah high-capacity energy storage battery in December 2024. Engineered with optimizations in energy density, safety, and cycle life, the 587Ah cell achieves a balanced design in size and performance, delivers notable cost benefits, attains 94.5% energy efficiency, and supports more than 10,000 cycles. Mass production of the battery commenced in August 2025.

The ∞Cell 587Ah is derived from HiTHIUM’s ∞Cell 1175Ah, offering half its capacity while sharing the same ∞Pack+ and ∞Power system platforms. Together, the two batteries cater to varied market needs across multiple durations and scenarios, forming a differentiated product portfolio that bolsters the global transition to green energy.

The rollout of the 6.25MWh BESS at CRRC Zhuzhou represents another key milestone in the deployment of HiTHIUM’s high-capacity battery technology. HiTHIUM will continue working closely with CRRC teams to advance project implementation and subsequent application testing, exploring new potential for large-capacity energy storage systems while contributing to grid stability and the green energy transition.
