EVE Energy's LMX Battery Passes Six Low-Temperature Tests Successfully

Recently, a major breakthrough has been made in the low-temperature performance technology of new energy commercial vehicle batteries. In January 2026, EVE Energy Co., Ltd. joined hands with Foton Motor to complete six extreme low-temperature technical verifications for the LMX open-source battery system in Tianjin, Hailar and Yakeshi. The battery has successfully passed all the tests with excellent performance, which marks a new step in the cold region operation capability of domestic commercial vehicle batteries and effectively breaks the technical restriction of new energy commercial vehicles operating in extreme low-temperature environments.

The verification was carried out by CATARC Information Technology (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. in accordance with the Automotive Extreme Environment Comprehensive Technical Verification Regulation (2025), and the verified vehicle model is Foton Zhilan new energy vehicle equipped with LMX-137kWh battery system. The whole verification fully simulates the actual operation scenarios of commercial vehicles in cold regions, and conducts all-round tests on the battery from cell performance to vehicle system application, with the test temperature as low as -39℃, which fully verifies the reliability and adaptability of the LMX battery in extreme cold environments.

All Six Core Tests Passed, Showing Excellent Low-Temperature Performance

In the six core verification items, the LMX battery has achieved remarkable results in all aspects, and its performance has far exceeded the traditional LFP battery system:

  • Low-temperature cold start: At -39℃ and 30% SOC, the vehicle successfully completed the cold start under full load condition, which verified the instantaneous high-power output capacity of the battery and the stability of the whole vehicle system.

  • Low-temperature acceleration: Under the extreme conditions of -39℃, 30% SOC and full load, the vehicle only took 22.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60km/h, maintaining a good power output capacity.

  • Low-temperature endurance: In the temperature range of -36℃ to -27℃, simulating the distribution scenarios of cold region express delivery outlets and trade markets, the vehicle achieved a cruising range of 191.5km under full load, with a 20% increase compared with the LFP-140kWh system, and the endurance performance was significantly improved.

  • Low-temperature charging: At -36℃ to -27℃, the battery completed the charging from 20% to 70% SOC in only 28.0 minutes under full load, with a maximum charging rate of 1.45C and an average charging power of 141.2kW, and the charging efficiency reached 99.3%, realizing efficient and reliable charging in low temperature.

  • Cell low-temperature capacity: The LMX 234Ah cell maintained a capacity retention rate of 92.08% at -20℃ and 86.06% at -30℃ (compared with 25℃ normal temperature), which was 28.2% and 62.5% higher than that of the LFP234 cell respectively, with outstanding low-temperature capacity retention.

  • Cell low-temperature discharge: At -30℃, the maximum discharge current of the cell was significantly higher than that of the LFP system under different SOC and discharge time conditions. The 10s maximum discharge current at 90% SOC increased by 133.3%, and the 60s maximum discharge current at 30% SOC increased by 66.7%, which effectively guaranteed the power supply of the vehicle in extreme cold and avoided the problem of vehicle breakdown.
