SHANGHAI – At this week's SNEC SMART E 2026 exhibition, Chinese battery manufacturer Great Power unveiled a trio of new energy storage products aimed squarely at three high-growth segments: utility-scale storage, residential systems, and AI data center (AIDC) backup power. The company, which has long championed a "technology-first" philosophy, says the new lineup reflects its commitment to addressing diverse customer needs and accelerating the energy transition.
As the global energy storage market shifts from being a mere "accessory to renewables" to a critical pillar of grid infrastructure, performance metrics such as safety, round-trip efficiency, cycle life, and application-specific adaptability have become decisive factors. At SNEC 2026, Great Power responded with three major battery solutions targeting the most pressing challenges in utility, residential, and AIDC applications.
To meet the twin trends of "appliance-style design" and higher value in global residential storage, Great Power introduced its new 122Ah prismatic cell. The key breakthrough: a gravimetric energy density exceeding 200 Wh/kg while maintaining robust safety and cycle life. This high density directly addresses the integration density bottleneck in all-in-one residential storage systems, allowing slimmer, more powerful home battery cabinets. "High energy density is the foundation for all-in-one designs," a company representative explained. The 122Ah cell has already passed IEC, UN38.3, and other stringent international certifications, easing global market access for customers.
With AI data center power demands surging—single-rack loads rising from 20‑50kW to over 100kW—and GPU loads creating millisecond-level transient pulses, traditional power architectures are struggling to deliver continuous, zero-interruption supply. Great Power's Hanhai 85Ah cell, first introduced in 2025 and now showcased at SNEC 2026, is engineered for this exact scenario. The cell delivers 10C high-rate discharge, providing massive burst power the instant a grid outage occurs. It ensures a stable minute-level backup window—the critical gap between grid failure and generator startup—to protect data integrity. Moreover, the Hanhai 85Ah responds in milliseconds for frequency regulation, handling high-frequency charge/discharge cycles. "The race in AIDC storage is about safety, power, and cycle life," said Great Power. "We believe the Hanhai 85Ah effectively empowers the intelligent computing era."
For utility storage, the spotlight fell on the Fengpeng 588Ah large-format cell. Through innovations in material chemistry and structural design, Great Power claims to have achieved a breakthrough in both reliability and efficiency. On safety, the 588Ah integrates triple protection technologies and has passed nail penetration, thermal runaway, and short circuit tests. On efficiency, the company's proprietary "Ion Sponge" platform enables remarkable all-temperature performance: 85% efficiency at 5°C, over 95% at 25°C, and exceeding 96% at 45°C. High-temperature long-cycle technology further enhances stability under extreme conditions, boosting the value of storage systems across diverse climates and applications.
With these three targeted launches, Great Power is positioning itself as a full-spectrum player in the fast-growing global storage market—from the smart home to the AI data center and the renewable-heavy grid.
