At the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from January 13 to 15, energy storage specialist HiTHIUM presented its latest portfolio, marking the international debut of its 8-hour long-duration energy storage (LDES) technology. The showcase focused on the company’s system-level capabilities, specifically highlighting the ∞Power 6.9MWh 8h LDES system and the ∞Cell 1300Ah dedicated LDES cell, both engineered to address the specific requirements of large-scale renewable integration.
With renewable capacity rapidly expanding across the Middle East, regional power systems face distinct challenges regarding long-duration flexibility, diurnal power balancing, and operation under extreme temperatures. In response to these market dynamics, HiTHIUM has introduced a holistic LDES solution that integrates cell design, system architecture, and safety protocols intended to support resilient, all-weather power grids in the MENA region.

The newly introduced ∞Power 6.9MWh BESS utilizes a streamlined architecture optimized for 8-hour applications. According to HiTHIUM, the design removes redundant structural components to lower material costs and streamline assembly.
Efficiency: The system features intelligent controls and end-to-end active balancing, which the company claims reduces auxiliary power consumption by over 30% and improves temperature control accuracy by 20%.
Safety: The unit integrates high-strength steel band reinforcement, dual pressure-relief venting, and advanced thermal insulation to ensure operational stability.
Powering this system is the ∞Cell 1300Ah, a cell designed specifically for native 8-hour storage. With a capacity exceeding four times that of mainstream alternatives, the cell reportedly reduces system component count by over 30%, lowering initial capital expenditure. It incorporates a multi-level safety system to prevent thermal runaway propagation and utilizes proprietary ultra-thick electrode technology to mitigate cracking and electrolyte infiltration issues.
Expansion into the MENA MarketBeyond the product showcase, HiTHIUM solidified its regional presence by signing an agreement with Infinity Power during the summit. Under the deal, HiTHIUM will supply a 120 MWh energy storage system for the Nefer Benban project in Aswan, Egypt. This agreement represents a significant step in the manufacturer's expansion into the Middle East and North Africa, supporting local grid stability and renewable energy utilization.
Looking forward, HiTHIUM has indicated it will continue to prioritize technological R&D and global partnerships to accelerate the deployment of long-duration storage solutions.
