REPT BATTERO has announced that a batch of its projects across Japan are preparing for grid commissioning, with the Kanuma City site in Tochigi Prefecture the first to come online. It is the company’s first grid-connected standalone battery energy storage deployment in Japan.

The Kanuma project is sized at 1.99MW/8.35MWh. REPT BATTERO supplied its 417kWh liquid-cooled outdoor DC energy storage cabinets as the core equipment under a full-cabinet delivery scope.

According to the company, the facility operates as an independent energy-storage asset, earning revenue through Japan’s frequency-regulation ancillary service market, capacity market, and electricity spot market. It also provides public-interest value that supports Japan’s energy transition agenda: strengthening grid stability and power quality, delivering BCP emergency backup capacity, and unlocking economic value from underutilized land.

This marks REPT BATTERO’s first grid-connected energy-storage footprint in Japan.
