SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – June 11, 2026 – Sungrow has officially taken the wraps off EnergyBridge, a radically compact backup power solution for homes. The new EB80S (single-phase) and EB80T (three-phase) models shrink overall size by up to 99% compared with traditional box-type backup gateways. Designed to slot directly into an existing distribution board, EnergyBridge eliminates wall drilling and complex rewiring, rethinking how residential backup hardware is deployed.
By integrating on/off-grid switching, metering, and multiple other functions into a single compact switching device, the solution strips out redundant hardware and cabling. The company says this approach cuts total system costs by approximately 12% while delivering a more efficient, affordable and dependable backup experience for residential energy systems.
In residential energy storage systems, conventional backup setups typically rely on externally mounted gateway boxes that demand complex installation. EnergyBridge flips that model, merging five independent devices – a changeover switch, a circuit breaker, a meter, a bypass switch and a CT – into one unit. Where legacy solutions often need 14 poles, EnergyBridge occupies just 4–6 poles, slashing the distribution box integration space by 57%.
20-Second Installation. Positioning, spirit-level levelling, drilling, wiring and other steps mean a traditional install can take up to an hour and depends heavily on installer skill. EnergyBridge uses a snap-in design that mounts directly onto a standard DIN rail – the whole process takes roughly 20 seconds.
No Drilling. Zero Wall Damage. Because the unit is embedded inside the distribution box, it removes the need for the destructive wall penetrations and modifications typical of gateway installations. The solution also supports future system upgrades, as EnergyBridge can be easily removed when no longer needed, leaving the wall clean and unmarked.
Worry-Free Complex Scenarios. Simplified Wiring. In homes where the distribution box is far from the backup gateway or separated by walls, conventional box-type units often require extra drilling, exposed cable runs or concealed wiring. EnergyBridge eliminates many of these wiring materials, accessories and labour-intensive steps, simplifying the bill of materials from the outset and dramatically boosting installation efficiency.
Robust Protection for Reliable Home Backup. During on/off-grid switching, EnergyBridge delivers more than 6,000 high-current switching cycles and offers a maximum breaking capacity of 6 kA, allowing it to ride through extreme surge events. Compared with traditional gateway solutions that use relays and contactors, safety and reliability are tripled. Moreover, legacy backup systems depend on the coordinated operation of five separate devices – a single failure can bring the whole system down. The highly integrated architecture of EnergyBridge fundamentally lowers that probability of failure.
Seamless Backup Within 10 ms. When the grid fluctuates or fails, EnergyBridge transitions from grid to backup power in just 10 ms, keeping the home’s electricity supply uninterrupted. With a rated current of up to 80 A, it supports whole-home high-power loads of up to 18.4 kW for single-phase systems and 55.2 kW for three-phase systems.
Sungrow’s newly unveiled EnergyBridge represents a full rethink of residential backup power, spanning solution architecture, product design and the installation experience. By turning what has long been a complex engineering task into a streamlined, ready-to-use offering, the company sets a new benchmark for how backup power is deployed in homes. Sungrow has also secured comprehensive intellectual property protection for the solution through patents and trademark registration.
