On March 25, CALB's aviation-grade Top-Flow high-energy flight battery system, designed for XPeng Aeroht's X3-F "Land Aircraft Carrier" flying car, officially rolled off the production line at CALB's Chengdu manufacturing plant. As the world's first power battery that meets both automotive regulations and aviation airworthiness standards, the product marks a key breakthrough in the industrialization of power solutions for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles in the low-altitude economy sector.
The mass-produced Top-Flow high-energy flight battery adopts a high-silicon high-nickel cell system, achieving a core energy density of up to 360Wh/kg, which is about 1.5 times higher than mainstream electric vehicle batteries, and a maximum discharge rate of 25C, with a continuous power output nearly 10 times that of ordinary new energy vehicle batteries. This performance fully addresses the industry pain point of insufficient instantaneous power for vertical take-off and landing of flying cars, supporting 1500kW+ ultra-high instantaneous power discharge to stably lift the aircraft during take-off, while effectively extending flight range through superior energy storage efficiency under lightweight design.
To meet the extreme safety requirements of aviation scenarios, the battery is built with a 4-layer aviation-grade safety protection system covering cell, module, system and complete machine levels. It has passed the 15.2-meter drop test with no fire, no explosion and no liquid leakage, with its thermal safety design fully complying with aviation airworthiness requirements. Based on the company's proprietary solid-liquid hybrid electrolyte technology and structural design, the product can withstand extreme temperatures up to 200℃, and has completed verification of more than 100,000 cells to ensure reliability and stability under various extreme working conditions during high-altitude flight. The technical research and development of the product is supported by the national key research and development program, with CALB taking the lead in tackling key technical challenges in aviation power batteries together with industry partners.
This series of aviation-grade batteries is mainly oriented to application scenarios including urban air mobility, low-altitude tourism, emergency rescue, and inter-city transportation. It can meet the stringent requirements of eVTOL vehicles for high power response, long cycle life and extreme safety, and has become the exclusive battery supplier for XPeng Aeroht's X3 series, while supporting the power needs of multiple advanced eVTOL models from GAC High, Volant Aerotech and Efly Intelligent Manufacturing.
At the production roll-off ceremony, CALB and XPeng Aeroht jointly announced the official entry of the supporting battery system into the mass delivery stage. The cooperation between the two parties began in 2022, when CALB's battery solution helped the world's first electric vertical take-off and landing flying car complete its maiden flight, and the two parties signed an in-depth strategic cooperation agreement in April 2025, establishing an exclusive supply relationship for next-generation models.
For the large-scale commercialization of low-altitude mobility, CALB has built a complete ecological layout through in-depth cooperation with leading enterprises in the eVTOL field. The company has signed long-term strategic cooperation agreements with Volant Aerotech for the VE25-100 6-seat commercial passenger eVTOL, the largest of its kind in the world, which has received nearly 2000 intentional orders; and partnered with Efly Intelligent Manufacturing to develop the EF7 pure electric two-seat eVTOL for low-altitude tourism and short-distance commuting scenarios. Previously, the company's flight-specific battery products have been installed in GAC GOVY AirCab, which has entered the airworthiness certification stage and is scheduled to start mass production and delivery in the second half of 2026.
At the 2025 Zhuhai Asian General Aviation Exhibition, CALB made its first public appearance of the Top-Flow flight-specific battery system, and delivered in-depth sharing on the technical path and application cases of aviation-grade power solutions under the theme of empowering the low-altitude economy with battery technology. With the mass production of this aviation-grade battery series, CALB has realized full coverage of power battery products in "land, sea and air" fields, further expanding its technical and market layout in the global new energy power sector.
