At the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2026 in Abu Dhabi, held from January 13 to 15, HiTHIUM introduced its long-duration energy storage (LDES) solutions to the international market. The manufacturer's exhibition centered on the debut of its ∞Power 6.9MWh system and the proprietary ∞Cell 1300Ah, both engineered specifically for 8-hour storage cycles to support all-day power availability.
With the Middle East rapidly expanding its renewable capacity, the region faces an increasing need for grid flexibility capable of balancing day-and-night loads while enduring extreme heat. HiTHIUM’s latest release targets these specific regional challenges, offering a system-oriented solution that integrates specialized cell design and safety architectures meant to bolster grid resilience in harsh climates.
The ∞Power 6.9MWh BESS utilizes a new architecture tailored for 8-hour applications. By minimizing structural redundancies, the system aims to lower material costs and streamline assembly. According to HiTHIUM, the unit’s intelligent control systems reduce auxiliary power consumption by more than 30% and improve thermal control accuracy by 20% compared to conventional alternatives. The infrastructure also features high-strength reinforcement and advanced insulation, reportedly enabling operation under extreme conditions involving temperatures up to 800°C and pressures of 300 kPa.
Powering the system is the ∞Cell 1300Ah, a dedicated LDES cell with a capacity roughly four times that of mainstream market offerings. This high-capacity design allows for a reduction in total system components by over 30%, which may effectively lower initial capital expenditures. The cell incorporates ultra-thick electrode technology and a multi-level protection system designed to prevent thermal runaway propagation and address common degradation issues like electrode cracking.
Beyond the technology showcase, HiTHIUM advanced its commercial presence in the MENA region by signing an agreement with Infinity Power during the summit. Under the deal, HiTHIUM will supply a 120 MWh energy storage system for the Nefer Benban project in Aswan, Egypt. This agreement marks a significant step in the company's expansion into large-scale utility projects within the region.
Looking forward, HiTHIUM indicated it will focus on scaling the deployment of these long-duration solutions, aiming to support the broader integration of renewables across the Middle East and global markets.
