Sunwoda (SHE: 300207) has introduced its next-generation solid-state battery, joining other Chinese firms in announcing progress in this advanced technology.
The company presented its new "Xin·Bixiao" polymer all-solid-state battery at the 2025 New Energy Battery Industry Development Conference, as reported by Yicai. The battery is reported to achieve an energy density of 400 Wh/kg and maintain a cycle life of 1,200 cycles under minimal external pressure.
According to the report, Sunwoda aims to finish a 0.2 GWh pilot production line for these cells by the end of this year. A company executive also confirmed the successful development of laboratory samples for lithium metal batteries with an even higher energy density of 520 Wh/kg.
This announcement follows recent industry activity, including Chery Automobile's (HKG: 9973) display of an all-solid-state battery module with a claimed 600 Wh/kg density and a target for vehicle integration testing by 2027.
Sunwoda's development timeline was previously outlined last year. A China Daily report cited the company's plans for a 1 GWh mass production line, set to begin in 2026. The company also projected completing lab samples with energy densities exceeding 700 Wh/kg by 2027.
Through ongoing innovation, Sunwoda anticipates reducing the cost of its polymer all-solid-state batteries to near that of semi-solid-state batteries, targeting RMB 2 ($0.28) per Wh by 2026.
