SVOLT Mass Produces 80kWh Fortress 2.0 PHEV Battery

Changzhou, China – April 2026 – The world’s largest plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) battery by energy capacity, the 80kWh (at 1/3C) “Fortress 2.0,” has officially entered mass production at SVOLT’s Changzhou facility. The milestone moves the battery industry beyond spec-sheet competition — transforming “world’s largest capacity” from a laboratory parameter into a repeatable, high-volume manufacturing reality.

Engineered for large five‑ and six‑seat family SUVs and off‑road adventures, Fortress 2.0 delivers a 35.6% energy boost over its predecessor (the 59kWh version). Thanks to highly integrated system architecture, volumetric efficiency and gravimetric energy density have improved by 6% compared to the prior generation. The battery supports peak 6C fast charging, enabling D‑segment PHEVs to achieve over 400 kilometers (249 miles) of all‑electric range. For a typical daily commute of 50 km, drivers would need to charge only once per week — effectively using the vehicle as a pure EV in daily life.

Precision manufacturing & rigorous reliability

SVOLT’s Changzhou production line leverages the company’s proprietary high‑speed stacking process, backed by high‑precision automation and end‑to‑end quality control. From incoming material inspection to assembly, welding, and final pack sealing, every step undergoes stringent in‑process monitoring. A 100% three‑stage air‑tightness test ensures the battery meets IP68 water ingress protection — capable of surviving prolonged submersion without leakage.

The cell features an ultra‑thin electrode design, an ultra‑high overcurrent structure, and second‑generation superfast charging electrolyte. Combined with full‑domain active thermal management and an intelligent BMS (battery management system) with dynamic regulation, Fortress 2.0 achieves its peak 6C fast‑charging capability: over 400 km of range added in just 10 minutes while preserving safety and cycle life.

Safety redesigned: end‑to‑end redundancy

Fortress 2.0’s safety architecture is built around three interlocking pillars — structural integrity, thermal resilience, and electrical protection — with redundant measures at every layer.
